Capacity Update

Tomorrow we are taking delivery of another Mazak Nexus 250 MSY lathe. This machine will replace one of our older 2 axis lathes, this gives us much more capacity to produce the most complex of parts in small batches and large batches.

New Machine Ordered

Just placed an order for a new Mazak lathe with Y-axis, Subspindle with full c-axis capabilities on both spindles. This machine uses Mazaks new Smooth control helping us produce the highest quality of parts with the most up to date techniques. Delivery expected March 2019.

Quality Approval Update

Recently had our ISO 9001:2015 quality system audit and passed with flying colours along with praise from the auditor for our constant commitment to 

continuous improvement.


We have just purchased an additional Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) with full CNC capabilities which will be installed in our new temperature controlled inspection area in the next few weeks. This additional measuring capacity and capability will enable us to continue driving towards our commitment of providing our customers with products manufactured to the highest quality.

Increased Grinding Capacity

We have just purchased a fully rebuilt Cincinatti centreless grinder for grinding bars upto 3 metres long and 50mm diameter.

Multigrind Celebrates 41 Years

This weekend Multigrind reached 41 years as a limited company. There has been many changes since then showing our commitment to constantly re investing into the business.

Martin Wharfe Joins Multigrind

Multigrind services are pleased to welcome Martin Wharfe to join our team as Operations Director.

Martin is a fully time served engineer with a first class BSc Hons degree in Engineering management who brings with him a wealth of experience in successful operational management from within the Aerospace, Automotive and Military industries. His Role is to develop and improve the company to enable Multigrind to widen it’s Customer base into new high tech markets.

We look forward to a bright future in his hands.

Celebrating 40 Years In Business

Yesterday we said goodbye to Nick who has retired after nearly 34 years of service.

Two more Mazak 5 Axis CNC Lathes Installed

We have just commissioned another two Mazak CNC lathes with barfeeds, subspindle, milling with full C-axis and Y-axis max machining dia 350mm with max bar of 77mm dia. We now have 15 CNC lathes and 3 CNC Machining centres in our manufacturing department plus all the machines in our Grinding area, all here under one roof!

Jones & Shipman 1076 Installed

We have just commissioned a fully reconditioned Jones & Shipman 1076 helping us maintain the tightest tolerances the machine as both External and Internal grinding heads with a max swing of 250mm Dia x 600mm Long

New Grinding Workshop

Our new purpose built grinding workshop is now ready for our machines to move in.

The new build will be temperature controlled, meaning maintaining tight tolerances will be easier and faster.

New additions to our plant

We have just purchased two more Mazak Turning Centres to add to our plant these machines boast 5-axis which includes Y axis and Subspindles. This enables us to reduce lead times and handling as we adopt the Done-In-One method. These machines have max bar capacity of 75mm and 330mm Dia chucking.

Multigrind was first established as a Limited company in 1977 as specialists in precision Grinding, and quickly became specialist in the field.

Large Steady Installed

We are just about to have our new hydraulic steady installed on our large Mazak Lathe with Y-Axis capabilities. We can now complete more intricate machining cycles in various parts of the job, improved accuracy and reduce operations due to the extra support from the steady. This machine can now machine upto 330mm Dia x 1500mm Long.

Planning Permission Approved for Extension

We have been working for a while alongside our planning partners to design and implement a new building on our site here in Hertfordshire. We are extremely happy to announce that our permission has now been approved by the council and we hope to start building in the early part of the new year.

This new building will be giving us more room to expand our Turning and Milling department with more machines to follow next year as well not only this but we plan to separate or Grinding sectiont into a more controlled environment to enable us the ability to hold tighter tolerances and keep up with ever growing demand.

We Love A Challenge !

We have just successfully completed trials on grinding some Inconel tube down to 0.945mm diameter, a very difficult operation considering the finish tube now has a wall thickness of 0.025mm (.001")

CAD CAM Software Including Upgraded Simultaneous 4 Axis

As part of our contantly evolving business plan we have now upgraded or CAD CAM package giving us more advanced machining methods as well as a fully simultaneous 4 axis machining giving us the ability to produce complex parts in an efficient manner.

Another machine on the way...!

We have aquired another 5 axis Turning Centre to keep up with current demand and add to capabilities. We will be taking delivery of another Mazak Nexus lathe with 75mm bar capacity, 330mm chucking, subspindle, full milling cabibilities with Y-axis.

This has been a very busy year so far for us as this is our third machine this year!

New Mazak Lathe Arrives!

We have just taken delivery of a new Mazak CNC lathe with Subspindle, Milling and Y-axis cababilities. This machine now takes us up to 11 CNC lathes alone.

Multigrind Goes Wireless

We have just installed a new wireless system linking all our machines together making it much easier for us to communicate programs all around the workshop.

Two New Cranes Installed

We have just installed two new cranes in the workshop making it very easy to load our Lathe with parts upto 250kgs and also easily load bars onto our large centreless grinder also up to 250kg!

We have just invested in a new non contact measuring system to increase or inspection capabilities.

We have just purchased a new Mazak VCS430A CNC Machining centre with full 4th axis to cope with our ever growing demand, we expect the new machine to be delivered before Christmas!

New Machine Installed QT100

We have just installed a new Mazak Nexus QT100 to increase our capabilities to produce smaller parts more efficiently, this machine is brilliant for lights out production as well as being equipped to manufacture small batch parts quickly and accurately with a max capacity of 42mm Dia.

New Machine Installed SQT250MS

We have just installed a new Mazak SQT250MS with both Milling and Subspindle capabilities in increase our Turning capacity. This machine can machine bar up to 65mm Dia and Chucking work up to 300mm Dia.

Multigrind achieves Quality Approval

Today Multigrind recieved our certificate from NQA for our BS EN ISO 9001:2008 certification.

New Ultramat 650 CNC Installed

We have just installed our new CNC Grinder to add to our plant giving us more capacity and increased capability.

New Machines Installed Mazak Nexus 250MY

We have just installed 3 new machines. Our Mazak Nexus 250MY (1.5mtr Bed), Mazak VCS530C (with 4th axis) and another XYZ Proturn (580mm Dia Capacity).

Reached 40,000 jobs

40,000 jobs have now passed through Multigrind. Looking forward to the next 40,000!

Mazak VTC 30 C Machining Centre

This month has been a very busy time for us, to improve our existing plant and keep up with current demand we have installed a Mazak Mill for machining components up to 2 metres long. As well as being integrated into our CAD/CAM system we have in cycle probing and a tool magazine holding 48 tools.

Two new machines ordered

Over the past years our Turining and Milling capacity has been growing non stop, so to support our needs and meet the current demand we have ordered two new machines from Mazak a VCS530C machining centre with full probing and inspection system as well as a Nexus 250MY with tailstock, y-axis, driven tooling and capacity to machine parts upto 1.5mtrs long, 300mm Dia Chuck and 80mm Bar capacity.

Mazak SQT 200 MSY

We have recently commissioned our 6-axis Turning centre, fully automated with Milling, Subspindle, Y-axis, Barfeed and Chuck. We now have the ability to manufacture the most complex Turned and Milled parts all on the lathe whilst reducing operations without compromise to quality.

CAD CAM Software Up and Running

We have recently installed a state of the art CAD/CAM package which is helping us develop our current workbase as well as giving us the capablity to program the most complex work in a short amount of time.

Multigrind Anniversary

Established as a limited company in 1977, today we are celebrating 33 years in business.

XYZ Proturn Lathe

This month we have installed our second Proturn lathe to double or turning capacity on larger size parts, up to 600mm Dia!

Vibratory finishing and Deburring Machine

We have just installed our automatic deburring/finishing machine to provide better finished parts while being able to cut costs on manual labour.

Format 15

To increase our CNC Grinding department we have added another Jones and Shipman Format 15 to our plant for extra capacity on internal and external Grinding.

The Hawk has been added to or CNC Milling plant for second operation work and small batch production.

Mazak QT6G

We've just added a new platten lathe to our plant to reduce cycle times and produce basic parts more accurately and quickly.

Mazak SQT18MS

To increase our capablities we have just installed our SQT18MS for Turning, Milling components upto 75mm Dia from bar and 12" Dia from billets.

Mazak SQT10MS Chucker

We have just installed a Super Quick Turn 10 with Milling and sub spindle to increase our productivity and efficiency.

Mazak QT 18 NSP

We have just added a 80mm capacity bar feed machine with subspindle so that we can now machine larger bar and manufacture more complex and complete components

Mazak SQT 10 MS Barfeed

4-axis Turning centre has been added to our Turning section to increase our Turning facility.

Takisawa TC-30 Added

We have just commissioned a Takisawa TC-30 to add to our turning facility. This machine has been brought in to machine billets up to 10" diameter and bars upto 80mm diameter

Hydrafeed Bar feeder installed

This month we have purchased and installed a new Hydrafeed Bar feeder to our Mazak. This gives us more capacity and makes us very competitive manufacturing components from bars up to 51mm dia.

CMM 3 axis measuring machine

Just installed our CMM 3 Axis coordinate measuring machine which gives us the ablity to measure very small limits.
